I have a lot of things which really do not have a particularly useful place in my life anymore. I was digging around looking for something of use last night and very quickly realized that the piles of junk I have been harboring seem to go on and on. They have become a burden to me which definitely needs to find a way out of my life sometime soon.
Organization is the key.
This is something I have been subtly aware of for quite some time, I am fairly certain. It has not come to the point of exhaustion yet, however, and I am pretty sure that is why I have tolerated it for so long. It is starting to feel closer to the workable edge of my sanity, though. I feel the need to do something about it soon. Perhaps I need to set a goal.

I have a space on the floor for things I need to get rid of. Some of it I put on Craigslist, like things that are expensive to ship or that is in high demand (but not small and expensive). The stuff that is hard to sell on the Internet I put into a box and wait for a community garage sale. Everything else I put on eBay.
I like garage sales the most, because I get to haggle and easily identify men who aren't fearful. eBay often surprises me by how much I can get for what would be considered junk anywhere else. But it only works when I'm the only listing for that particular item, or the only one with a reasonable price.
When I finally get annoyed by my pile of unused stuff taking up room, I post it all at once onto the Internet. Or sometimes I do it because it's been too long since I've had the fun of watching my eBay stats, haggling with "Best Offers", or the thrill of a sale. But what is really cool is watching the amount of junk I have vanish. Each thing I sell is a little victory, and I get paid to do it. Plus I'm essentially manufacturing something since it doesn't have to be made in China.
Anyways I thought I'd share my motivating reasoning, and my methodical procedure, that maybe you haven't considered.
Thanks for the advice! Many facets of your methods appeal to me. Unfortunately(literally), I will probably just donate, or throw into the garbage, most of this mess. I do not feel like I have the time to even try selling stuff. Ha.
I take donations. LOL Actually I look at the Free section of Craigslist all the time.
And definitely don't overwork yourself. I find it hard to do much without a woman helpfully encouraging me. I'm single, so it looks like a bomb went off in my house.
Ha! Well put!
